Everyone rejoice as the iPhone 3G unlock is finally available! Kicking off the New Year on a good note, the iPhone Dev Team has released the much awaited iPhone 3G unlock albeit still being a beta version. Yellowsnow iPhone 3G Unlock 0.9.1 Beta is now ready for public consumption, but the team is quick to note some limitations of this first release. It only works with baseband 02.28.00 which is the ones used in the latest 2.2 firmware so you’ll have to upgrade to your iPhone’s firmware if you’re not on it yet. It also doesn’t come with PIN support so they recommend you disable PIN request on your SIM before running Yellowsnow.
There are still a lot of other kinks in the armor, but overall, the iPhone Dev Team has managed to come out with an easy-to-use free iPhone 3G unlock for the masses.
